Blizzcon ’09 Quick Reflection

August 23rd, 2009 Comments off

As I sit here in the airport waiting for our flight to leave I thought I would give some initial thoughts on expansion 3.
*Goblins are op
*Worgans need some “cool” buffs.
*Every expansion feels like this was their original view for the game. This is a good thing.
*Many new guild options, including talent trees and guild patterns and heirlooms.

All in all I was pretty impressed with what I played and saw at the panels. When I get home and have some time, I will expand on all of these points.

3.2 is out and GM’s

Just waiting for the servers to come back up, hopefully by the time I get home from work.  My battle group had extended maintenance scheduled today, so hopefully this will fix the instance server unavailible issue.  There are lots of new features and I am looking forward to have some new fun, rather then repetitive fun.  I played on the PTR and enjoyed what I saw, now I will get to do it with friends.

I had a long talk with a GM last night about the problem with instances on our server.  This was basically a circular argument.  He did confirm it was a hardware problem, yet was unable to pass along any other information.  It saddened me that Blizzard has figuratively trademarked the term Soon(TM) .  He was unable to help with any question I asked.  I did tell him I canceled my account due to this issue and will encourage all I know with the same issue to do the same.  He basically apologized and said he would like to keep me as a customer, yet offered no real information or compensation.  I am not looking for anything free, maybe a few days to compensate for the time lost bouncing off of the glowing trampoline.  I was disappointed that the first time I get to talk to a GM about my issue, after submitting tickets on almost and every other day basis for a month, to be left with the same feeling of emptiness I had when I started.  It would be nice if they could at least provide info other then Soon(tm) and sorry.

Anyway, hopefully our issues will be fixed tonight or tomorrow, we all know patch day server stability can be rather terrible.  As for now comes the badge grind.  Which I am looking forward to, I have enjoyed the last few days trying to knock out the glory to the hero achievements.

World of Warcraft PTR Patch 3.2.0 Notes

June 18th, 2009 Comments off

3.2.0 PTR Patch Notes Released and can be found here World of Warcraft PTR Patch 3.2.0

Being a Pally, I can be biased and say, some nice changes a coming.  Having a DK, I have to say whats the point of a hero class if it is brought inline with all other classes.  I can start at 55?  PvP is ruining the game to enforce the rock/paper/scissors aspect.

Once again….Into the Breach!

April 14th, 2009 Comments off

A nice surprise this morning, although I had predicted it a while ago, Patch 3.1 dropped today.  This offers many new options for players, from Dual Spec, Argent Tournement, and the Ulduar Raid.

This evening I will be taking a rag tag group of explorers up to Ulduar and poke our nose in and around.  We are looking to see what the vehicle mechanic fight feels like and what we can do.  This should prove to be interesting.  Many people have been looking into this.  We have tried to keep the knowledge of the boss fights in Ulduar to a minimum to minimize knowledge and increase surprises.  We do know abilities of many of the bosses, however we are keeping strats down to a minimum.  This will make many encouters more engauging and fun, rather then trying to push buttons in the right order at the right time according to someone elses method.

I have a problem with guides, it takes away from it being a game.  I do however agree that most if not all raiders need to have the similar mind set.  Otherwise those looking for loot piñata and those looking for an adventure are on different wave lengths.  This can cause many fights and even guild breakup.  We hit up strategies if we hit a wall, where we just cannot seem to get past.

What to many of you like to do?  Learn and explore or try out known strategies?

In to the breach once again, a new adventure awaits!
